His Majesty’s Deputy Lieutenant of Devon to Visit

We're extremely honoured that once again a representative of the King will be in attendance at the Festival, this year our esteemed dignitary is His Majesty’s Deputy Lieutenant of Devon, Group Captain Gordon Evans DL - Retired RAF Pilot who commanded 28 and 230 Squadrons before becoming a civil aviation pilot in 2000, flying Boeing airliners including Boeing 787 Dreamliner. Since retirement in 2015, Gordon is active with several charities, including RAFA, the NCI, and SSAFA – he is currently President of SSAFA Devon. He is a keen Rugby supporter, and a heritage and model railway enthusiast, particularly The South Devon Railway and its Garden Railway Group.
Gordon and his wife Rena will be in attendance on Saturday 31st August and will present the winners of the daytime Showing Championships with their awards before enjoying THE FESTIVAL FEAST in the Lisbon Lounge prepared by renowned South west Chefs Tim Kendall (twice South West Chef of the year and Chef Patron of Rising Sun Inn and The Barley Sheaf at Gorran and Jorge Guzman "The Defender of Paella" from La Levantina - Paella on the move before enjoying the Saturday night show. We still have a handful of hospitality tickets left for Saturday night.
The Lord-Lieutenant and his Lieutenancy team not only represent and uphold the dignity of the Crown and arrange Royal visits to the County but it also celebrates the achievements of the people of Devon and their service to others. The Lieutenancy helps to promote Devon communities, culture, services, heritage, business and charitable success while drawing attention to those addressing challenges and problems in the County. It also has a role in supporting the three Services and, in particular, the Reserve forces and cadets. As such we are extremely proud that the Lieutenancy office attend again this year
